Born in 1952, lives and works in Curitiba. Since 1968 he studied drawing and painting, is self-taught in photography. He graduated in Business Administration in the mid 70's he began to develop his artistic work performing his first solo exhibition in 1980. He studied graduate in History of Art of the Twentieth Century in the School of Music and Fine Arts of PR in 1999- 2000.

     Vilma Slomp has exhibited individually in museums and galleries in Brazil and abroad, such as the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Museu de Arte de São Paulo, Museu de Arte Moderna in Rio de Janeiro, Oscar Niemeyer Museum in Curitiba, Tepper Takayama Fine Arts in Boston , Cymroza Art Gallery in Mumbai and Lionel Wendt Gallery in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

     In 1998 he received the Hasselblad International Award.

     His works are in private collections and museums; in São Paulo, Museum of Modern Art, the Art Museum of São Paulo, Museu Afro Brazil, Itaú Cultural Institute; in Rio de Janeiro, National Museum of Fine Arts, National Library Foundation, Museum of Modern Art; in Curitiba, Museum of Contemporary Art PR, Curitiba Cultural Foundation; in the USA, Worcester Art Museum, Danforth Museum of Art, Framingham, Fogg Art Museum / Harvard University Art Museum, Cambridge, and Fidelity Investments, Boston, International Center of Photography, New York; Cuba, Wilfredo Lan Museum and Photo Library of Cuba, Havana and France Musée Français de la Photographie, Paris.

     Has published five books: Merry Christmas, Pain, Illusion, Viscera in Vice Versa and Curitiba Central.
